In this first post in the series, we will begin by looking at the Gospels as a whole, and what the Gospel according to Matthew contributes to the big picture.Â
We start by saying that all of the Gospels were written many years after Jesus’ life. This means that they were written from the viewpoint that Jesus Christ had already been crucified, resurrected, had ascended into heaven, and is now awaiting his return to earth. Each Gospel also contributes something different to how we should understand the return of Christ and the establishment of the kingdom of God.
